Looking good there Karrie!!!
How are you feeling with the change over?
Last night my wife worked with her trainer on form, form, and more form.
He said he wants her form and technique to be perfect.
Then he had her shadow another female powerlifter for 45 min. going through her workout with her. I think she had fun!
We kept passing each other in the gym..... We would bump shoulders, as if challenging each other as we passed! I'd mumble, "Damn Powerlifters!" She'd reply, " Bodybuilders - Can't lift crap!"

I have not been this focused with my training in years. This is very tedious, especially with the form and what not. I like the fact of moving up every week to hit that max weight. I am motivating myself. Children, are very time consuming and keep you busy at times. Especially mine who are 20 mths apart, but they are a true joy. I have stopped at two bambino's, I could not imagine having four...gold star to you and your wife!!! I admire any couple who has three or more children.

Great start Karrie!! Along with a great attitude and focus! Thanks Hoopie!! I am glad you posted here in my journal b/c I have been wanting to let you know the pleurisy is MUCH better and I am able to do 30 min of cardio without that terrible burning. THANK GOODNESS!!!! It just stinks that anytime I get upper respiratory stuff I have a chance of developing it again.

Frank, I am very much liking this change and I am getting used to it. My form is pretty good at this point. It is just my squatting, walking out of the rack and then racking the weight. My knees are holding up ok. I know this is going to be my weak area, BUT, I am going to push it as much as I can, to get the best I can, even with bad knees and without obtaining and injury. Tell your wife to keep working at it. Let her know there is another woman in her corner!!! ;D

Karrie,
I've told her about you and some of your threads here. She likes to hear about your progress.
About your knees...are you wrapping them when you go heavy?
I found that when I squat or leg press, I feel a little safer/stronger, if I wrap my knees for the last set or two at the heaviest weight. Seems to help.

Frank, At this point, and my husband is in agreement with me, I am not using knees wraps until I am able to go heavier. I want my legs to get as strong as possible without the knees wraps. I am aware that knee and wrist wraps are mandatory for a meet, but I am holding off on purpose until I absolutely have to. Thanks for the input! ;D

Good advice from the hubby!!!
We're still new at this. I didn't think wraps were madatory at a meet...especially if you are competeing.....RAW.
I do know that knee high socks are though.

Unfortunetly there is no prevenative measures you can do to keep it from coming back. I like the no knee wraps. Get them legs as stronge as you can without wraps. When i was in high school my coach wouldnt let me use wraps until i was close to a certain weight. Keep pounding away Karrie!!!

Last night legs. Not real happy but I have been low on energy the last few days and not sleeping real well, so I think that is the culprit. I was suppose to get 3 sets of ten AND it should have been easy, but it was REALLY hard so I am a little bummed. First week in ten week cycle for legs: BB squats: 60% of max so I did 95x8x8x8-YUK! Wide stance leg press: 260x8x8x8 leg curls: 60x8x8x8 Calves: donkey raises: 260x10x10x10 seated calf raises: 140x10x10x10 I WAS SO IRRITATED WITH MY LEG WO THAT I DID 35min ON THE TREADMILL......I WAS LIKE POUNDING ON THAT POOR TREADMILL AND MY MP3 PLAYER WAS ALMOST MAX VOLUME!!!! So, pick up the pieces and aim for an AWESOME back wo tomorrow!!!!!!!
