I decided since I have made a decision on what path to take I would just start a powerlifting journal. This week starts a 10 week cycle. This week I am figuring out my max on deadlift, bench and squat. Then we will take a % and start working up to my max weight. I could not be more excited than I am now.
Today I found my max on my sumo deads. Let me tell you, Terry is pretty impressed with what my max goal is gonna be. I am small person but I am starting to pack a punch!!!! WHOO HOO!!!!
Sumo deads: Set one: the bar for 10 reps Set two: 95lbs for 5 reps Set three began my singles: 115x1 135x1 155x1 175x1 195-unable!!!!! So my max is gonna be 200!!!!!!!! I am very excited to see how I am gonna do over the next 10 weeks!!!!!
Calves: supersets: 10 reps each for three sets: donkey raises: 290/seated calf raises 155.
HIIT cardio for 20min!!!!!!
Tomorrow: max on bench!!!! Bring it on!!!!!!!

Actually, after trying about 10 times to get a hold of this guy, I decided to just have Terry help me. He knows what he is doing so far. We need to get to a local meet and check the specifications but I feel very comfy with the hubby helping me!!!! My enthusiasm is soooo back!!!!! #smileygrouplaugh5js#

Karrie!!!
Great Job...and good idea on the new journal.
I have to get my wife on here to do some posts...but she's not much of an internet chat person. I'd probably end up posting for her!
She met with her new Powerlifting Trainer for the first time yesterday. She was nervous, but pretty pumped up! They worked on form for her squat. She was so geeked about, she woke up this morning at 3:30 am, and was practicing her form for squatting inthe mirror! I think I may have created a "Mini Beast"!!!
Wednesday they do Bench!
YOU GO GIRL!!!!

Nice weights Karrie! What other lifts are you doing in your wo aside from the bench on bench day and deads on deads day, etc?

BTW - How tall are you? I'm sure you posted this before but @ 118 you look really lean, you may have to add a pound or two to keep upping the max lifts. Do you know what the weight class break points are yet? That's something to watch for too. Ahh..Powerlifting----Ugg no understand!!!

Ok, Jeremy, I'll answer your questons....... ;D I am 5'4 and yes, I am fairly lean @ 118. I just had my body fat tested...more for the fun of it and curiosity and it is at 17%. I will compete, down the road, in my weight class. So, I will not be going against any "amazon" type women. I am not sure what the cut off for the weight classes are but they start as low as 95lbs. Now as far as having to "put on weight" the answer to that is no. My body wt may go up naturally by putting on a little muscle as my pounds increase but I do not want to break any world records. I want to get as strong as possible without altering my hard look that I like so much. ;D You only max out at the beginning of each 10-12 week cycle with the goal of achieving that max weight at the end of that cycle. For instance for my deads my goal is to do one rep with 200lbs. So starting next week we will take 60% of that weight and slowly work up to 200 over the next ten weeks. Same goes with my bench and squat. Now as far as wo's and exercises..for back I do pull downs etc....I still work bi's, tri's, shoulders abs and calves...of course...but I do not do max weight on those. For instance I can do 40lbs for hammer curls as a max but I will only go up to 30-35lbs....etc. Powerlifting there is alot to understand but that is what I like about it...actually I am starting to REALLY enjoy it. This is something no one else is doing.....I like the thought of being strong and people being surprised at my size but sort of shocking them with the weight I lift. There is alot of thought and MIND control in the sport. I love that!!! I have not been this focused on form iwith exercises in years......So, I hope I answered some of your questions!!!!

Good Luck, Karrie. I have a special connection to the powerlifting world...my initial exposure to serious weight training was under the watch and supervision of some SERIOUS powerlifters who took me under their wing, when I was just 16 years old. It's where I developed my love of heavy weights and I think the foundation it builds is a blessing for anyone who ends up in the competitive bodybuilding world on down the road. Tear it up!!!!
