I've started dating a really great girl. She's pretty open to most anything. I love going on dates that are fun, interactive. Dinner and movie is fun, but it's sort of plain and cliche. Any other ideas? I thought about a Christmas play, or go to the theater house or something. She's into fitness and good nutrition as well, but the weather isn't great for outdoor activities. No snow yet, but it's very cold. Any other ideas?

I like Randy's idea, dinner, wine and a horse and buggy ride. Do you live in NY?

Mystic!
Ok...you've contacted the master on this topic! I'm in a bit of a rusuh right now...but I'll share one idea.
On my 23rd Wedding anniverary, I planned a get-a-way for my wife.
Called her boss, arranged for her not to be at work for A Friday thru MOnday...long weekend (she didn't know).
On Friday...on our way to work, I headed south instead of north on the highway..."where are we going? I have to go to work?!" Surpsrie baby!.
Stopped for breakfat at her favorite place...then onto a VERY romantic luxury B&B.
I'll keep this brief, but you'll get the idea.
Pre-packed her suit case and hid it in the car. Once there..on way to dinner...ran back into room...placed 23 hand cut out hearts that said I love you in 23 diff languages, and spread them all over the bed for her to see on our return.
Intimate dinner....poetry read by owner wirh irish accent.
return to room...hearts all over bed.
Wrote book in journal of all the things we've been through over 23 years...some fun, some romantic, etc. and some that just said, "What the hell were we thinking?!?!" (took months to prepare this!)
off to bed.....under her pillow..ruby and diamond ring............
then it got fun..........for 4 days............
I'll share more ideas later......let your imagination run...and BE ORIGINAL!
MORe will follow.....by the way...we dated for 8 years, and have been married for 30 this august....proven plan that works!
I ALWAYS come up with something new....
;D

Frank, you should be a social arranger!!
If there is a theatre or dinner theatre in your area, give it a shot. Even in cold weather, a hand in hand walk can be invigorating. My wife and I loved that.
Ask her for ideas as well.

Frank, you should write a book! personally I like 'doing stuff' as well especially in the early stages of dating-I had a video arcade date once where we went and played air hockey for a couple of hours then went and ate burritos after-he wasted me but it was still fun!

Some dates are funner then others and the same thing becomes routine Pick several things ahead of time and do something different each date.
Bowling can be really fun, its active and can be a lot of fun. Just be careful and do not get too compative.
How about indoor put put golf.
There is always a play or dinner theater that Gerry suggested too.
How about window shopping. Take here somewhere out of the way. In western PA we have several shopping outlets all over the place. This is also a way to find out what she likes.
Check the local scene as well. There is a place in Pittsburgh in which has dueling piano's and that can be fun (sometimes).
I like to go to dinner at a different location each time in which the theme changes too. Sometimes its Italian, and others its a Japanese steak house. But also splurge on some high end stuff too. I have been to some pretty interesting places to eat, and the experiance of something new is fun.

Rubicon has the right idea man. Here in Denver we've got it all and it works! We've got carriage rides- combine something like that with dinner or drinks or just a coffee. Then walk around a little if it's in a downtown area and then go back home for.....

Wow so many great ideas here from everybody. First I'll say that I'm in Nebraska. Not a whole lot to do. However, there are some art galleries/museums around here. Also yep, there is a horse carriage ride downtown, which is actually where I took her last Friday. Still in the very early stages of dating, so maybe the carriage ride is too much., but definately an idea I can try down the road. Maybe for Valentines Day, if we are still dating.
Ahhh, wine! What a fantastic idea. There actually is a great wine place she was pretty keen on going too., however we already had a few drinks that night and I'd hate to ruin it by getting sloshed, lol. I love to drink as much as the next guy, but I gotta control myself and APPEAR to be responsible, haha.
Window shopping? Gee, I'd have to have alot of money for that right? haha. I just started up my career (finished school) so maybe in a couple of months I can try that. I like the idea though.., however I don't want her to get the idea that we can just walk around and I buy her things. I want our relationship, if it goes that way, to be based on how we are together, rather than what she gets.
Bowling is ALWAYS fun., although usually better for group dates., however maybe I will bring it up to her and see if she wants to go. You're right, very interactive fun, etc. I gotta watch out for the competition thing, I can be VERY competitive. We played pool the other night, and I had to try to miss a few shots here and there, I didn't want to run the table on her every time. That would be rude I think.
MrBeef, you have EXCELLENT ideas, but I'm thinking once I am in a relationship with her I can try those things. Great great ideas, but maybe a bit much in the beginning. I do love the creativity thing though, maybe I should brainstorm and think of a very unique and original date idea, she may appreciate that., otherwise it's just the same old routine.

You must have a small hip Bistro out there where you can nibble on some food and have great conversation and then head out for some ice skating. Then in to a Cafe for some HOT COCOA!!!! Perferct. I'm telling ya... You will learn a bunch about eah other and its reletively inexpensive..

Here in good old Akron, Ohio we have a "gem" as I like to call it. It is a Dinner theater, perfect for first date up to celebrating anniversaries. You have to dress up, the productions come from NYC as well as most of the actors. If you have anything close to you that is similar, it is a GREAT night out. Also, one thing that my hubby and I did was, no joke, played board games....cheap and great fun. Probably sounds corny, but you do not need all the "romantic" stuff always. Make some drinks and pull out scrabble or cards.

Karrie, Sadly I don't think we have anything like that, but I could be wrong. I'm going to do some research the next couple days (no work yay!!), and see what I can come up with for our next date. Some sort of interactive dinner theater thing could be very entertaining!

Mystic,
All these ideas are good, but if you really like her, and want to set an impression, use your imagination and forethought. The fact that you took the time to really plan the date, will score big points.
It doesn't have to be big bucks, or anything crazy, just thoughtful. Bowling, wine, dinner...all ok....but very blah in my book. She's probably done those things before.
Be creative. If she has pretty nails...take her to get her nails done, sit with her, gaze into her eyes, and just talk.
Quaint Bistro...cool......write a little note to her...pass it to the waiter, and excuse yourself. Have the waiter bring it to her, telling you to meet you (in the hallway?)...when she's arrives just give her a little peck on the cheek, and tell her you just couldn't wait for a moment alone with her...walk her back to the table, and enjoy your dinner....see what develops.
There are LOTS of ways to make a date interesting....and fun.
Keep us posted.and good luck!
If you need more ideas....I have many ;D

My wife and I had gone to a coffee house one night and listened to a live jazz trio. Sadly the place is closed now but it was great atmosphere, just enough music to take away any uncomfortable dead spots in conversation and quite enought to carry on a conversation. Also something we talked about even to this day is a pottery place where you can go and pick out a premade pot or something and paint the glaze on it for different colors. I don't know if you have something like that but it's interactive and creative. I'm not sure everyone would enjoy it though. A picnic in the park is out unless you want to freeze you butts to the ground! But you could do a picnic inside at your home or apt. Something different.
I never went to movies with my wife when we were dating. There's no way to carry on a conversation and what's the point if you're trying to get to know someone to sit in a dark movie for 2-3 hours.
A buddy of mine used to take his dates one the "100 mile car ride" If they couldn't get on with conversation without turing on the radio for 100 miles then he felt they had little to offer on the communications side. Maybe that wouldn't be best for every situation because my wife is a spaz in the car but a nice drive in the country can be enjoyable. It may be awfully flat depending on what part of the state you are in though!
Also setting up a lunch date in another town is always a nice change. It's a way to get alone with her in the car for an hour or two and then lunch, possibly some shopping in some different stores and then a nice ride home. OR a horrible ride home depending on how things go!!!
Just some other ideas to think about and ways to spend some time getting to know one another without too much pressure.

Sal,
Indoor picnic! Good idea!
Go with a theme! If your bod is on season..."beach theme"?
After all it's a picnic.........once your down on the floor, who knows!?!?!? ;D
Some temps are still pretty moderate..........zoo? Then back for the picnic with an animal theme.....put little stuffed animals all over the living room...get a sound effect CD with some jungle sounds.....make it fun......Tarzan!!!
Leave room for "monkey business"!

Bah didn't work, unfortunately guys. She's doing the whole "I won't return your call" thing. Shows how mature she is, and cowardly for not saying to my face or being honest about her feelings. Oh well, there are plenty of fish in the sea, now if I could only find the sea, haha. She must not of been special enough for me to try all the romantic stuff I had planned if she just would of stuck with me. I still wanna thank you guys for the tips, I can use them for the next Miss Mystic79 who steps up to the plate.

Don't write anything off too soon. I almost did that because she had so many personal things going on. Maybe she is just going through something or she is not ready or afraid to see someon she may have something for. My wife tried that with me but I saw it through and let her take her time. We have been togther for over 8 years now and loving every minute of it...OK well that's a load of bull! But I am very glad I let things take the course they were meant to take and gave her the space she needed at the time.
You just never know what the other person has going on.
If it's meant to be it will be. Just don't write everything off because she didn't return a call in a couple of days.
You never know what may happen next.

Sal you must be psychic or a genius! But she called me the next day and we're going out again this weekend. I just about accepted the fact she didn't want to date me and then again I am proven completely wrong. I am through trying to figure this out. lol
Anyways, I have a couple of days to think of a fun date. We aren't going out until later in the evening though because of her work. Any ideas on a late night date? Definately dinner first then, I am not sure.
