You know I haven't done a show since 1994. I miss the prep, the backstage action, the onstage action, and watching my body change. But I have never stopped training. The training is my true love. It keeps me centered and grounded.
I feel for you steve, when the time is ready you will return, but if that time never comes, remember to do things that bring you true joy in life.

Hoopie, We are all here for you. You need to do what is best for you and if competing is not in the cards right now then it is not, but you can always compete down the road when things are on the up and up for you.

Steve, I know that you like this sport and it's sad that you wont be competing anytime soon. I'm forced to do the same this year and it isnt easy… but you know what? I realized that competing is not everything. Whatever it is for health, familly, work, etc… there is many logic reasons for someone not to compete. And who knows, maybe you'll have other occasion… but for now, just take care of your current priorities. Competing or not Steve, you can train hard, eat well and be in great shape! Stay positive buddy!

Steve, I've went though long periods of time when I didn't compete myself. You can always pick it up when the time is right, like Mo said just keep training and things will come around in time.

Hoopie, I do not know you that well. what I do know of you I admire and respect. I have been training hard since 1989. This is my first time to compete. I may only do it this one time I do not know yet. I do know I have always loved weights and the feeling I get after a great workout. Enjoy life my friend it is short.

I may have an idea why and I think I am going through the same thing you are right now. I do not know if I will ever hit the stage again myself. Maybe just some time away from the daily hustle of cooking, eating and training is what you need. Wish you the best man!!

I'mnot sure why the need for the absence but I can appricate and respect your decision. I am also taking some time off - much more than I had originally planned. It started with my one season off to make gains that looks like it will turn into 3-4 years away. My last show I had planned - got sick This upcoming show in Nov. - new job that will require too much time as the new gym opens This coming May - new job will be in full swing at a second new gym that opens in Feb 08
So it will be a while until i get on stage again but the nice thing is I can still train and still make improvments. Sometimes it's necessary to do what's best for you personally.
It's ultimately your decision and we're here for you.

Competings great. Fun too. But I'm more worried about you. I'm not either, partly by design and I did one already, but life is heavy duty now too. I hear you bro. My best wishes on whatever it is.
