First of all,I`m stuck at the hotel for one more day due to transportation problems......damn busses!! LOL
I just want to say what a pleasure it was to finally meet Hoopie and Keith.................both great guys just like I knew they would be.
Eric Brugh I had met previously at this contest the last two years.......also a great guy and also the current/reigning NABBA Over-40 and Open Champion........YEAH BABY!!!
OK,I feel great about my placings, but also feeling a bit deflated........here`s how it went.
I was in both the Over-40 & 50 Short Classes along with Keith who looked fantastic.
In the Over-40,it was me,Keith, another short younger guy(age 43), and a last minute late entry in the form of Leroy Keels, who won the Overall Over-50 a couple of years ago.
Keels took first, the short guy finished second,I got third, and Keith took fourth, then the fifth place guy............ who I just can`t seem to recall at the moment.
In the Over-50 Short Class,It was me ,Keith, this big guy,and two others...................they had us out there forever posing during the comparisons,so long in fact, that Keith actually told me backstage later that he thought he might pass out on stage...........I was huffing and puffing like a runaway locomotive too.......tough class!!
After juggling us around a bit,I was left in the middle of the lineup and as you know, that is sometimes a good indicator that you won your class...................I was freakinbg out inside, but I surely didn`t want to count my chickens before they were hatched, especially bwith guys like Keith and this bigger guy in my class.
After pre-judging, and all day before we returned for the night show,I kept thinking two things..........firstly.......I won the class, and secondly..... did I win the class? LOL
I was confused!!
Anyway,I ended up in second place with the bigger guy winning first place.......................I was a bit disappointed, but that`s how bodybuilding contests go sometimes......a lot of the time actually!!
Just more incentive to come back better next year which I definately intend on doing!
Anyway,I later spoke to a judge about a contest he was going to put on in Nov. and he took me outside into a hallway and told me that I lost the overall short class win by just one point!!
If I had won,I think that I would have won the overall because IMO,the tall class winner, while a big guy, couldn`t match my conditioning, but I guess I`ll never truly know.
Sitting here now,I feel a bit disappointed, but all in all I had a great time, won 10 trophies this year.......................never did that before, met Keith and Hoopie........thanks for everything Hoops!!
Also want to thank Dustin Vincent aka DVINNY for putting on a great contest once again.
To Keith,a pleasure to finally meet you and an honor to compete onstage with you................a great guy and a fantastic bodybuilder.
Almost forgot about Bob,since he`s fairly new here.........awesome person, and placed fourth I beleive in the East Coast Grand Prix portion of the contest.
Great to meet Bob and his wife..........real good people!
Hey Mo,Bob had a bowl of Captain Crunch cereal in his gym bag to eat after the contest.........I`m Totally Serious
Much more to say,but my typing finger needs a break between sets!!
A big congrats to Eric,Keith,Bob and Joel!!
