Well...made it through the Div Flare up...just a bit sore today. feels like a set of vice grips on my left lower side. Did AM cardio 20 min. Todays Weight = 160.0 lbs !!!!
Well another Day! Another Day to challenge the diet!!! So far...so good....scale moved a "pinch", so I'll take what I can get! Abs not looking too shabby...6 pack is peeking out. NO bloatedness at all! A good thing!
Now...back to this stupid job .
Until later...at the gym...to Git er done!!!!

March 22, 2007.... I think I feel so freakin carb depleted it ain't funny! Day 4 of CKD.....feel like crap (see Hoops..you ain't alone!) Tired, weak, blah! Did not sleep a wink last night. Did AM Cardio for 30 minutes. Was VERY shaky when done. Woofed down Protein and Almonds....still shaky...grabbed a plain rice cake for the crunch affect....and off to work. And to top it off.....it's LEG DAY tonight Will post a "tweaked diet" a little later. Some adjustments upping the protein and lowering hte fats for a few days. Now....where did I put my head....oh, there it is. Told you I was carb depleted! mr beefy....i think

oops! Thought I should post a more "positive note" too! At the gym last night....I wore a long sleeve spandex shirt...very tight, very form fitting (told ya the abs started ;D), the gym owner stopped in front of me...looked me up and down and said, "Man...I don't know what your doing, but keep it up. You're starting to look like a cartoon character!" (I took it as a compliment, since the veins in my chest, shoulders and arms were protruding through the shirt! Then, one of our figure babes (sorry, figure "athletes") saw me, and said..."Wow...you are looking bigger and harder everyday" (stop it...I know what you're thinking!) She also said how impressed she was to always see my wife and I working out together, and hoped that someday she meets someone who she can share her enthusiasm with!" (If she only knew... ) Perhaps I should have mentioned to her that I may go to WV myself and needed someone to help me with my "tanning and oil needs!" Darn that carb depletion!

Ok Beefy........ sounds like you are a popular guy around there- tell the fitness girl you need her to help you out with a "test run' and then in WV for the real thing. Seriously now, as someone who hopes to compete in the near future I like to read waht all of you guys are going through during prep so I can at least try to mentally prepare for what I'm in for. Keep on track man- you can do it.

BMR: There is NO WAY to really prepare yourself for contest prep, except to say, that it is a mental and physical trial on your mind and body. This is one of the things that seperates us (bodybuilders), from the average gym rat. To set a goal date, and focus all your physical and mental energies to be the best you can be by that date. Many can talk-the-talk, but..... I can tell you how to swim....but you have to get in the water to learn. Same here.

This is JUST a one day carb up. Then back to CKD. As you suggested, I contacted Eric, and he has been helping me along. Todays weight 160.0 lbs....lowest it's been in weeks. Meal # 1 of todays carb up tasted GREAT! But, I did get really tired right after, and got a little headache...but it's passing. Did an early am walk with the dog for 2 miles today. Time for Meal # 2...then off to the gym for leg day!!! When I hobble back, I'm going to pick my wife up from work early, and go see "300". More updates coming....stay tuned! Frank

680 grams of carbs!!!!!!!!!!!! With your bodytype,I hope this works.................I`ll be waiting to see the results. Don't look at the CKD diet as only a 680 gram carb up day. Keep in mind that Frank ran 5 days in a row at close to 0 grams of carbs. It is imperative that he refuel his body or he will lose muscle. This will also spike his metabolism. The longer a person stays on low carbs, the slower their metabolism becomes which equates to very little changes in their physique. I am an advocate of drastic changes in ones diet as evident by the CKD diet. The CKD diet I posted before calls for a two day carb up. I only use a one day. I made quite a few changes to the original diet.

The carb up day was interesting ~ not what I had expected. Remember, I ate a LOT of Carbs, AND a lot of Calories today. It was also leg day and tanning day # 1 for me too.
After Meal # 1 tasted great, goes wo saying! But I got kinda tired, and started to get a headache. Eric felt it may be an insulin response. Will monitor. Gym wo was Leg Day Today, which went down well. Didn't go super heavy, but did ensure I got a good tight squeeze and hold on every single rep. Also tanned for the first time today, so I'm slightly burned.
Went to the movies to see "300" (good flick), came home to eat meal # 4 (turkey, etc) kinda bloated from this one, and little headache again, then fell right to sleep...woke up 5 hours later at 9:00 pm! Now, I"m really sore! Missed Meal # 5, Ate meal # 6, and going back to bed.
Back to cutting at the gym ~ CKD at it's best! Wake up weight today was ~ 160.00 Weight at bed time ~ 161.00 hmmmm Tomorrow will be interesting!
I will hit the gym, with a SPARTAN attitude. No retreat, no surrender!
Now to bed, with thoughts of future contetes dancing in my head!!!
