Crazy workouts Eric!
You have been competing since 1989? Almost 20 years of contest experiences, impressive! I was learning how to write my name in 1989 :-)

Dateline : May 1989 Location: Soldiers and Sailors memorial hall, Pittsburgh Pa Event: NPC Pittsburgh city championships Promoter: Jim Manion MC: Dan Forbes (might have been Gary udit's first time as the MC) Guest Poser: 5 time Mr. Olympia the Totalee Awesome Lee Haney
This would be the 3rd time I competed at the Pittsburgh championships as a teen. Last year I had place 3rd, but in my eyes was a clear 2nd (always did need glasses.) This year I was destined to finish 4th. I had starved myself for the show not really knowing how to properly diet. This was suppose to be the year of Mike Fednok! The golden boy of western PA. Blond hair and blue eyes, last years middleweight champ was sure to take top honors this time around. Mike was really nothing special to look at. Sure he was ripped with big round delts. His arms were ok, back wasn’t weak, legs decent, with huge calves. He was ripped and displayed awesome abs. But his body type was more of a lean swimmer’s build, one that would need several more years to fill out. Oh and we also had the Matthews brothers. The younger one was coming off his teen win the year before. The Matthew brothers were built like refrigerators. They were both built straight up and down, with no real muscle shape; but ripped to shreds’ indeed. Fednok also had the advantage of training at Forbe’s “Powerhouse Gym” while the Matthew brothers trained at “Kings” This meant the fix was in. But to their credit they were prepared, fully shredded and peeled. After I left the stage I took my seat in the balcony to watch the show. I could not wait for the massive Lee Haney. I almost forgot there was an underrated light heavy guy who looked to steal the show. His name was Edgar Fletcher and he was massive, with huge legs and arms, but shredded with cross striations. I was truly gobsmacked when I saw him back stage flexing his quads. The show progressed very slowly (as it usually does). Fletcher lost to Fednok and the boo’s began. But now it was the time for the heavyweights to take the stage. The last competitor to take the stage was someone I had never seen before. He walked out , no I believe Lumbered out onto the stage. His back was as thick as he was wide. This in itself was enough to drop the jaws of those in attendance. His shoulders were inhumanly large. The arms had thick rope like viens running up and down them. His facial express was one of concentration and determination as he approached center stage. Every step he took caused striations and veins to jump out like lightening in the sky shooting off in all directions. He turned and faced the crowd, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, the poses came fast and deliberate. Striations popped, veins stood at attention, muscle literally jumped off his limbs! The audience went NUTS! Screaming in total shock. He left the stage, and everyone around me stammered the show was over! Next was Haney. Big but smooth. A gentlemen none the less. My dad leaned over and said to me “bring back that big blond guy, he was much more impressive.” Sadly the big blond guy lost to one of the Matthews boys. The crowd took to their feet, yelling and screaming their displeasure. Many just left shaking their heads.
That “big Blond guy” just happened to be
Eric Brugh.
(These events occurred as how I remember them, details maybe fuzzy)

(These events occurred as how I remember them, details maybe fuzzy) You have a good memory. Thanks for helping me relive the old times. I will never forget that show. It was a sold out crowd of about 2000 people. I swear 1500 of them came up to me after it and told me I should have won the whole show. I ended up doing the West Virginia cup the week after and won the overall beating everyone that did the Pittsburgh except Fednok and Fletcher. They didn't do that show. The good old days...

Joel - Thanks for the vote of confidence. All I can do is come in my best. Never know who is going to show up.
Steve - Things are going really good. Leanest I have ever been at this bodyweight. Had a good off season so far.
Mo - Thanks and I am going to tyr my hardest.
Intenceman - current weight hovers between 250 to 255 at about 9% bodyfat. Hopefully will come in around 235 to 238 for the show.
