Shawn Johnson looks like the Mary Lou or Nadia of this millenium!
Would not be surprised if the Chinese gymnast was 11 or 12!

Another cool night! Phelps keeps on hitting it! The Chinese divers were very good. Same with their male gymnasts.
Did anyone see the Mark Spitz interview? He allegedly is pissed off that he wasn't invited, since Phelps IS trying to break his records of 32 years. The interview made him sound very hurt, and conceited, like " I'm the WORLD RECORD holder and NO ONE invited me."
What's the Olympics without a little drama!

MO~ I saw this article, and although it was a little "off-topic" I think I know why tha Candians aren't winning any medals....they're to organizing this event! LOL! By Terrine Friday , The Canadian Press OTTAWA - Here's one holiday you won't want to miss. A Vancouver student has launched an Internet campaign to create a National Sex Day. And while it won't be an official holiday, it's sure to be fun. Jonathan Yaniv, a computer science student at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Surrey, B.C., wants to make Aug. 21 a day devoted to the art of love. The 21-year-old is trying to get at least one million Canadians to join the Facebook event "National Sex Day 2008." If he's successful, it will likely be the biggest organized sex event ever. * Now..THERE is an Olympic event! ;D

Phelps Breaks Olympic Gold-Medal Mark as China Wins 17th Gold
By Erik Matuszewski and Dan Baynes
Aug. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Michael Phelps broke the career gold-medal record at the Olympics today as China added three more titles to improve to a Games-leading 17.
Phelps lifted his gold-medal total to 11 with world record- breaking wins in the 200-meter butterfly and 800 freestyle relay. He moved within three victories of surpassing fellow American Mark Spitz's single-Games mark of seven golds set in 1972 and will swim three more events in Beijing.
Phelps won the butterfly in a record time of 1 minute, 52.03 seconds after his goggles filled with water at the start. That victory pulled him ahead of the nine golds of Spitz, Carl Lewis, Paavo Nurmi and Larissa Latynina on the career list.
``When I was on the awards stand I started thinking about it and that's when I started tearing up,'' Phelps, 23, told reporters. ``To know that I did it, at the top, with so many great athletes, to be at these Olympics, it's pretty amazing.''
Less than an hour after the butterfly, Phelps swam the lead-off leg as the U.S. won the freestyle relay and sliced more than four seconds off the world record.

That's amazing. They talked about him yesterday during an interview with his Mom. they said he is a normal, everyday, 23 year old guy....
UNTIL he enters the water. then he totally changes.
I'm sure we'll see more of this, but then they called him....ready...

Phelps is in a class by himself. World records in each event!
Hang in, Mo. Canada will win some medals. They have too good a team not to.

Did you know this? I didn't!
Phelps, who became a professional swimmer at 16 and a millionaire by 18, has sponsors, agents, lawyers, accountants, charities, his own website in English and Chinese, and even his own patented logo with a wave-like blue M and red P over his name.

Why does this not surprise me? But he deserves it! Phelps is a conglomerate unto himself. Thanks, Frank.

ewwwwwww...temper...temper!
BEIJING, Aug 14 (Reuters) - Swedish wrestler Ara Abrahamian threw down his greco-roman bronze medal in protest on Thursday after his bid for Olympic gold was ended by a decision denounced by the Swedish coach as “politics.”
Abrahamian took the bronze from around his neck during the medal ceremony, stepped from the podium and dropped it in the middle of the wrestling mat then walked off.
“I don’t care about this medal. I wanted gold,” he said.

Contrary to the Olympic spirit and he should be banned.
Poor sportsmanship is universal. Have been to BB competitions where the 4th or 5th place guy thought he should have won and walked off without the trophy or some other foolishness. Sad.

I stumbled upon some lifting the other night. Onlly got to see about 5 or 10 minutes. I've enjoyed the swimming though. Possibly because I used to swim and because Phelps has just been amazing

Saw in today's paper about the Chinese female gymnastics team accused of cheating. Most of the team is alleged to be under the legal competition age of 16. there were articles about two of the girls stating that each was 14 this year. But they have passports stating they are 16!
If it can be positively proven that any one of the Chinese girls is under 16, then the Chinese team should be disqualified and the three teams behind them should be moved up.
But no matter what happens, congrats to Nastia Liukin and Shawn Johnson for giving the U.S. a 1-2 finish in the women's individual all around gymnastics.

See Mo...Canada can do it!!!! Perhaps more of them should train with you, then they'd get more gold medals!
Well..onto the Olympians!
Phelps tries for 8 tonight (Ya think Spitz is happy about that..no..really?) Swedish wrestler stripped of his medal (I here they gave him a "time out" and stern talking too LOL!) Watching the womens marathon right now...I don't know who number 2372 is, but I want her abs. It looks like she just ate same raviloi!
The saga continues!

Phelps defies description. What an inspiration both in the pool and out. His humility with the press impresses me almost as much as his domination in the pool.
BIG congrats to Usain Bolt as well. I can't believe he actually LET UP at the end.
And well done to Canada, finally getting on the medal podium a few times!!!
