The 2008 Olympics are history!
Name your TOP 3 Memories!
Mine =
#1 Shawn Johnson FINALLY winning gold! #2 The Drama (ie: age of the Chinese gymnasts, wrestler throwing down his medal, US track team dropping thier batan, etc) #3 Just the sheer athleticism of ALL the athletes. Their sacrifices, their dreams being fulfilled or lost, the tears of their emotion finally being let out.
...and the looks on the faces, and tears, as the Americans stood on the podium and heard the National Anthem.
Wish I could have been one of them!
Now....share yours!

I always enjoy watching pretty much every event. This year I'll probably pay closer attention to the gymnastics since my daughter was chosen to be on her club's competitive team and will be starting down the competitive road this year. Come to think of it I've ALWAYS paid close attention to the gymnastics .... mmmmmmm .... Mary Lou Retton ....

I dont really have any favorite event or any must watch sport at the Olympic, but I always enjoy fallowing the performances of the local athletes from Québec! So this year, I'll show a special interest for the Canoeing, Diving, Judo and Swimming! I know it may be a redundant question or an old topic, but do you think that bodybuilding, figure and Fitness competitions should become an Olympic event? I'm still unsure for bodybuilding and figure since there is no "performances" during the day of the contest but when it comes to fitness, I'd say that it should be an Olympic event.

My sentiments also, CeaAnna! Actually, women's soccer has already begun. But opening ceremonies will be televised tomorrow evening. 200 nations are participating!
Hope it is a peacefyl and enjoyable Olympics. Best to all the athletes.

The opening ceremonies were the most awe-inspiring and even intimidating opening I have ever witnessed. The sheer visual splendor, spectacle and originality, cinematic sweep, and creativity totally wowed me.
The precision was stunning, yet also intimidating in a martial way.
This is the first thing I have seen on TV that made me wish I had a DVR. If this comes out on DVD, I'm there.

The whole opening was so cool! The detail, story line, technology, and can't say enough about the sheer man power it took to pull it all off! One quote about China needing 15, 000 people to pull off the opener, and their response was, "Well, we DO have the people!" The little boy who survived the earthquake was awesome. I was just impressed that we had so many world leaders, sitting side by side, cheering on the athletes. Why can't they do that with everything? And who makes up some of these little countries?!?!? Where the hell is sdhxbjeyclap-land? It was awesome! GO USA!!! GO WORLD!!!!!! My Chinese isn't too good, but I think the Chinese president said: "This was very nice, now Chinese people go home and have one more baby....you can call him....Bing.....Bing-Bada Bing!" ;D "Then next Olympics we have 2 BILLION people!" LOL!!!! ;D

No sure if any of the upcoming events will top the excitement of the men/s 4x100 freestyle swim relay.
As part of the team, Michael Phelps won his 2nd gold meday, but just barely. The U.S. looked beaten in the last leg, but 3 time Olympian Jason Lezak sawm the fastest 100 ever in a relay and won it on the touch by less than 8/100 of a second over the French team. The U.S. broke their own world record by 4 seconds to do it.
One of the greatest events I've seen in many an Olympics!

Lezak's rush was awesome!

That WAS very cool. It also had a lot to do with the french swimmer who made a mistake by swimming too close to the rope, from what I understand. Personally my eyes were riveted on the Canadian team who came really close to .... well, nothing really.

I understand that the French guy swimnming to close to the rope helped the USA by allowing him to "draft" off of him to conserve energy?
Womens gymnastics....Shawn Johnson...OMG..what an athlete!
What do you guys think of the allegations of the age of the chinese girls competing in gymnastics?
Did anyone here the interview with Bella Karoly, allegging that the new scoring system can be used to cheat?

My wife mentioned the Chinese allegations so I came to watch a bit- if I had to swear by it, the competitor I saw looked to be about 12. #smileybansign8eq#
Yes- Lezak did take advantage of drafting but it would not have mattered, IMO, without a Herculean push in the last leg by Lezak. .08 of a second!
