I have no idea why, except i saw some bodybuilders, and something clicked and I said to myself, "I wanna be like them" eventually won a trophy or two then life interrupted, now back on track for some more. Loving every minute of it. Now the folks at the gym are my friends and I look forward to seeing them and testing myself. I guess thats good enough Brock

These two fellers got a name? Dave Mastorakis and his training partner Ken Knapp !! Also a black guy in my neighborhood, named Chris Gordon who just happens to be the guy on stage in Pumping Iron, hitting a crab shot, while his girlfriend makes an ass out of herself by screaming and jumpining up and down like an idiot. Check out the new thread I am working on in the "Bodybuilding Superstars" section for some good stuff and I will be adding much more as I go along and Dave Mass,Knapp, and Chris Gordon will all be in there among many others. PLEASE DO NOT REPLY IN THAT THREAD UNTL I AM FINISHED!!! Thanks!! Know the scene I`m talking about?

Yeap, he's doing the crab pose, and flexing from side to side making a kissy face. He didn't do such a bad job of looking like an idiot himself! ;D They were made for one another! I always thought that was Robby Robison (come and get me Bix!!!!), as I thought his face always resembled Robby. I guess not.

Interesting! I dont hear often that a 7-12 years old guy start getting interested by bodybuilding! I dont know how old you are now, but keep going! Mo i'm 19 now, but it isn't like i've been doing this the entire time, lol...even back then, it was just situps, then eventually some curls and bench...then we had one of the original bowflex's so i did static holds on it (didn't know what they were back then, but I postulated that it would be an effective strategy)...then a few years later, i entered high school and played football and was introduced to an actual weight room...did that for two years, took a year off from doing ANYTHING, did wrestling my senior year (didn't work out at all for wrestling)...i went to cancun after my senior year, and the pics i got back from there kind of made me realize that i was really crappy looking, so THAT'S when i went to world gym and got a trainer, which was august 2003..hows THAT for a history? an odd bit from my life: in 6th grade, i was about 11 or 12...one night i stayed up late and (after watching Kiana Tom's Flex Appeal) did about 500 situps, as many pushups as i could, ran in place for a while, and did some tricky dance moves...i literally, and honestly, lost 13 lbs in one night...i was amazed, but never cared to attempt it again, even though i for some reason wasn't sore after all of that...

That`s him YB...great guy, and a really flanboyant poser to say the least. ;D
Still looked good the last time I saw him and had a tiny little waistline at over 40 years old.
I went to Jr. High School with a kid he trained, and the kid looked great, took me under his wing, and taught me quite a bit,his name was Royal Gomes.

I got tired of looking in the mirror and seeing the "cereal bowl chest" and being really scrawny.
People say I tlook bigger(heavier/taller) in person, but I don't see it. I guess it is because we are our own worst critics.

I've been interested in health/working out/nutrition since I was about 9-10. I was a puddy kid and my mom started putting me on diets when I started gaining weight (about 8-9...was an "early developer" LOL). I think I was the youngest Weight Watchers and Jazzercise member there LOL! At the time, I hated it and it embarrassed and hurt me at times the way my mom was always monitoring what I ate or commenting (and this did in fact lead to a couple of years in my late teens of suffering from eating disorders), but in the long run/hindsight, it also instilled in me an interest in eating well, working out, monitoring my weight (although I wasn't always consistent with these until 2 yrs ago).
I got interested in BBing/fitness for a few reasons: 1. When I saw Pumping Iron and Pumping Iron too when I was about 14. 2. MONICA BRANT, ERICA KERN, TIMEA MORJEVA and a few other ladies inspired me and helped me realize that muscle can and is sexy on a woman and that having a muscular/curvy frame isn't always a bad thing. 3. All the BBing and fitness magazines I've been reading since I was 12. 4. To lose weight and keep it under control, to transform my physique.

Saxon and Sandow agreed on little, but both told me I had potential. And when Bobby Pandour agreed, I began training.

mine is a long long story ....
my first look at bodybuilding was and the age of 5 , whatching van damn and arnold at the movies , thats when it dawnd on me that thats the way a man should look , big and pwoerfull ( hi ! i was only five ! )
then at the age of 13 i was cought between a rock and a hard place ...8 years of kick boxing took thier toll on my body and i was forced to stop ( my knees still bother me ) so what happend to me is what happens to every sportsman when he stop training ...i got fat .
i was only 5'8 at the time and i was 240 pounds of just plain yuck !
at 14 i had enough of being fat and got my ass to the gym . i lost 70 pounds in 6 months ( genetics kick ass ) so i was at a turning moment in my life ...to stay slim and just be one of the crowd ? or to try be what i admired since birth , be like arnold , be like stalone and all those guys a looked up to ....
i'm almost 17 now ....200 pounds 9 % body fat ...6' tall .
and happy

That's a fantastic transformation - wow. Intensity: I'm now 283 (at 17% - I have a strongman comp in July so I need to hold that size for another 6 months )when I was younger my father always told me that the men in our family were late developers and didn't stop growing into our mid 20s. He is the same height as me and 225 and he has never been to a gym in his life. So although my weight has increased a lot, most of it is just the late developer thing.

1-Well, at 5'11" and 125 lbs I wasn't exactly impressing the females with my physique. 2-Always wanted to look like the guys in the comic books! 3-Met Arnold in the late 70s and thought he was God (although I didn't start lifting until about 10 years later).

Like you, my first inspiration was Van Dam (now i think that he is too small ) and my stats are almost the same as yours... except that i'm 25 and your 17 Good for you... ChrisC: By magic number, i though of 175 or 180... but 283 outch!!! good luck with your stongman competition! Update us about that! Bodyfx: Arnold and females: The perfect combinaison to get motivated to pass the 125 pounds Mo
