Roberson (benefit of the doubt = this is probably just a poorly timed pic, but what happened to that ITTY BITTY waist that he had at his last show? it was sickeningly small!!! i'm not counting him out yet though, he just had a poor showing at the IM)

Badell
the pics on flex are pretty flattering for the most part, but other pics ive seen from the show really illustrate how much bigger his gut has gotten since he has started winning these shows (read: since he started working with sarcev)

Seeing the pics for this show made me yearn more and more for the physiques of Haney, Labrada, Benfatto, DeMey, Christian, etc, etc, more and more.

When he turned pro back in the day,he had a damn good physique......I have a pic somewhere and will post it when I find it. I have heard rumors that he is not all there mentally these days but I guess you could guess that by the fact that he still does these big contests. at least go into Masters shows if nothing else......even then he would be hard pressed to place but at least he`s still training which is better than most people in the world today........I guess!!

Thanks, Tim. Pelletier had a very good physique in his prime. This was discussed on Intense Muscle also. Either he is delusional, or he knows he has no shot but just doesn't care.
He once said that he has a joy of being on stage and competing. He has a valid IFBB pro card (he won the Canadians in late 70s), so there is no way he can be kept from competing. If I were he, I'd have bowed out while I still looked decent. But he obviously thinks differently. He will never qualify for the Olympia for sure.
Part of the problem is that there are no pro Masters events around. And he is not eligible for amateur events, so the open pro shows are his only opportunities to fulfill his need to compete. He has done Masters O a few times, and even there would not place against other 50s like Padilla or Marinelli. But at least at Masters level he would not be as conspicuously out of place.
Shows like Ironman, Arnold, etc. should have masters divisions attached to main shows. Why give out pro cards at Masters Nationals if there are no viable competitions available to the older competitors?

Why give out pro cards at Masters Nationals if there are no viable competitions available to the older competitors? Good question Gerry......and there is no answer!! It sucks for older pros who can`t keep up with the younger set but still look good and want to compete. As you know,a lot of guy`s wouldn`t train if there were no contests as they are a competitive bunch of guy`s!! Just another case of older people getting the shaft!

Reading my mind, Tim! There are so many outstanding older competitors who should have the opportunity to compete within their age group. There are guys like Steve Burke, Lance, Rusty and others who have done well in open events. And that is great. But masters level competitors should have the chance to excel at their own level.
Gets me furious every time I think about it.

Me too Ger,but until the powers that be do something about it,the guy`s are forced to compete in the open contests unfortunately.
By the way,I would love to do the Atlantic States but money is a big factor this year so I`m gonna` do the Rochester contest which is around the same time and much closer to where I am.
A hotel and all that would cost me too much............in Rochester I compete and drive home all in the same day.

That makes good sense, Tim. Hear you about money, as that and also time prevent me from going to many shows. Travel and hotel expenses aren't cheap. So you have to do what is best for yourself.
Believe me, if I were the power that be, things would be a lot different.
