So I decided to start a new journal and I titled it Cross Roads b/c that is truly where I am in my lifting right now and these are the reasons why:
1) Right now, I am unsure if I want to compete or just simply continue lifting. I need to lift for my stress so I AM NOT, EVER GOING TO STOP TRAINING/LIFTING
2) I also have NO idea if I want to train for figure or light wt fbb. There have been numerous people give me opinion's about which one I should do, but I myself am unsure which one I will/would pursue.
3) Life right now with me taking this 26 week course on Tues nights just has REALLY broken up my wo schedule so a comp in spring is out of the question,as far as training. My diet, I have been eating clean all day until dinner and it has been very difficult with my schedule to try to make a separate meal for me and then the kids. I am still eating HEALTHY but not as clean as I need to.
So since I am unable to get my wo in Sun, I went to the gym today and did a whole body wo-something I do not recommend nor will I do again anytime soon.
Legs: superset leg ext 80/walking lunges 50 for 10 reps each and 3 sets superset leg curl 70/ SL deads 115 for 10 reps and 3 sets
chest: incline db press: 30x10x8x8 flat db press: 30x8x8x6
back: WG pull downs: 90x10; 1000x10; 110x8 CG pull downs: 90x10; 100x8x6
bi's: hammer curls: 35x10x10; 40x6 incline curls: 20x8x8x6
tri's: skull crushers: 50x10; 60x8x6 push downs: 45x8x8x6
shoulders: arnold press: 25db's: 8x8x8x6 side lats: 22.5x8x8x8
THAT IS IT!!!!!! GLAD THIS WO IS OVER!!!!

My advice, just keep training as best you can,and if you can find the time/motivation/energy for a comp THEN think about it. Right now is NOT a good time. I would also talk to competition judges in your area-if you check the various sites like NPC,OCB etc you will probably find a contact you can speak to about it Hope you have a nice weekend-I'm off down to our comp-still not feeling that great but will just do my best! xx

Karrie, no matter where your life takes you we will be there to support you. You and I are so much in the same boat right now. When I started here we were both aiming at comp in spring of 2007. Now due to life, we are having to make changes. I hope to get back to lifting very, very soon, not with comp in mind anytime soon, but for my health and sanity. If, down the road, things change, I also have to decide figure or BB. Take care, and looking forward to following your continued success in the gym

Thanks girls!!!! I knew you all would understand that my life is INSANE right now!!!!
This weekend was crazy!!!! Took the kids to 2 fall festivals one in the morning and one last night!!! They had fun but it was really cold here so they had their mittens and heavy coats on....already in Oct. Today church and then my church every year holds this live walk through production called "Judgment House" we have been doing it for 12-13 yrs...it is huge...my church itself is huge...so this year I am helping out soooo today I helped some friends put together a scene and then I am getting ready to go to the kick off here shortly. So, when I get home from that cardio...heavy session!!! I will be back to the weights this week and hopefully get some sort of schedule back in order.
I hope you all had a great weekend!!!!!

Karrie: First of all, I commend you on all your effort to find balance and set priorities. Not an easy task, especially with kids.
Contests are fun, and make a great goal to shoot for by looking at a specific date in the future, and tweak your diet and workout in pursuit of that goal. Wether you win the over all, or take last place, you'll already be a winner by what you've accomplished.
Figure? Fitness? FBB? You've already heard some great advice. Ask questions. Visit a few shows..take the kids too! My grandchildren think the shows are cool ( 8, 5 and 1 1/2 years old). My granddaughter is already talking about competing someday! The more you involve your family, the more support you have, the more fun and more gains you'll make. And we all know "when Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy"!
Read magazines. This web is great for networking (Thanks to Tim!) Knowledge is power.
FInd the balance that works for you. Mom, job, gym, church, etc. Set your priorities. Family, Job, then everything else. If the baby needs special attention...the gym MUST wait. But the gym will be there.
I guess all I'm trying to say is you ARE on the right path. Enjoy the journey. Live everyday, like it's your last....and you will find the balance and happiness you want.
Like Saph said, "We got your back". That means all of us.

I have been to NUMEROUS shows over the years...that is what my hubby and I did together for yrs prior to having kids. My husband and I also get bb magazines out the ying-yang everything from natural bb to muscular development, we both read ALOT and he is on other forums and actually most of our conversations revolve around bb and our workouts. Right now I do feel as though things are balanced, unfortunately the last few weeks I have only been able to get in 2 wo's a week, so I could not even attempt a comp with the training not 110% like I had been able to give. Once I am done with this class, which is in March, then I can focus more clearly and hopefully set a goal for myself. Thanks! ;D

Karrie, that sounds great. You have a plan, with a long term goal. WO twice a week is better than no work out at all! And I'm sure you know, chasing those little ones around is a workout in it's own Happy that both you and your husband have this in common. It makes it SO much more fun, and easier. We got your back! Keep it up!

I agree, training twice a week is better than not at all-I am struggling myself with all my commitments now but I have a small amount of equipment at home and I make sure to go for regular power walks. You are a wonderful woman Karrie so don't ever beat yourself up about not being able to train as often as you think you should!
