Week two of conditioning-this wo was really hard tonight. I did not sleep well last night and I was drained before getting to the gym but I pulled through. I increased my weight by ten pounds and this was difficult:
BB squats: 75lbs for 10 sets: 8x8x8x8x8x6x6x5x5. Very hard!!! I am already sore. Sun: dead lifts, bi's abs and cardio.

do you have some weights you are aiming for Karrie or are you just working on building up some strength-endurance before you hit the hard stuff?

Well, right now I am in a conditioning mode. I am contacting a trainer in my area tomorrow. Yes, this is working on strength and endurance. My hubby tells me that in powerlifting you do not go to failure you lift just to before failure. Since the squatting, dead lifts and bench are different than in bb this conditioning stage is all about form and exploding. Once I talk with this trainer I am sure things will be switched up a bit. A girl my hubby dated a long time ago was a plifter and she did things like this and a girl at our gym is doing something similar, so this phase will get me going until I get hooked up with this trainer. Hope this all made sense. ;D

yep, thats what i thought you were doing..and yes the techniques are SO different esp the bench press, that back arching still gives me the creeps but I guess if your core is strong it should be able to sustain that kind of movement!

Karrie!!! You are Da Bomb !!!
Wo are looking fantastic.
On the lifting straps. Be carefull and use them only as needed. One thing you will need to work on is grip strength since you cannot use lifting straps in competition. Won't do you any good to lift 1,000 lbs or 10 lbs.......if you cannot hold onto the bar!
YOU GO GIRL!!!!

how is your eating going to change with switching to PL? More carbs My eating is not as strict as a bb diet, which I will hit more after the new year. Basically protein and carbs, of course for my body type.

YOU GO GIRL!!!! I am not using lifting straps at all due to the grip issue. My grip is actually pretty strong, I have been lifting for 12 yrs so it is NOT weak. Thanks for the encouragment!! I am calling this trainer tomorrow, did not have time over the weekend!!!

Frank, I cannot lift jewelry. I, for myself, do not care for jewelry. Does nothing for me. Sure I wear rings, bracelets and earrings but I would rather have a new cookbook, or cooking device. I look at cooking/tools like a man looks at power tools! I hope your wife does not get on this forum or else you gave away your gift.

LOL Karrie-As a woman who's never had any jewellery from a guy I think you are nuts but then again you are an old married woman A blender just wouldn't do it for me LOL What do you think will be your weakest lift-bench??? most of the women I know that do PL have strong deads and squats but weaker bench...

Oh, Beckie, I am NOT the typical woman in many areas!!! Like I said, I have jewelry but spend the dinero on something I enjoy doing!!!! Actually I think my squat is going to be my weakest b/c of my knees. The bench is just getting used to the form since it is different. My sumo deads look good!! Not to be conceited but my form is pretty good already!!!!

Beck, Actually I am a little frustrated, I have been trying to get a hold of this trainer and he has no answering machine. So between my schedule I am hoping I can get a hold of him within the next week. Experience in this sport in VERY important from what I have read.
