Hy everyone. As some of you know, I started college in another city so I had problems keeping in touch for many reasons. Anyway, with that aside, I'm glad to be back and hope that you all welcome me back. I recently had a discussion with a good friend about bodybuilding. At one point I told him that I wanted to compete in 2 or 3 years time. He looked at me and said :" Bro, you're an endomorph. You are not good for bodybuilding. Only mesomorphs are professionals." Honestly, for a moment, that brought my confidence level a bit down, so I thought as soon as I get an Internet connection, I'll post a thread concerning this subject and ask for your oppinions. Again, glad to be back. Best of wishes. Steph

I think thats bs. I know tons of friends who are like you. sh*t I'm an endomorph well, i'm a mixture but I'm def an endomoprh more than a meso and I compete. I'm not a professional but I know with more hard work i can be a natural pro. Tell your freind he /she is mistaken. Hard work and knowing your body and you can also compete too. ANYONE can compete.

I don't care if you are Orca the whale, or Carrot Top the string bean. If you want to BB to have fun, do it. I think everyone here knows you won't make even what you spend in supplements per month just by BBing. So have fun with it. Who cares if you're an endo, meso, or ecto. Just do what brings you happiness.

history says not all of the best were mesomorphs-think Frank Zane,a guy with alot of ecto tendencies, who with some good hard work transformed himself. Rachel McLish former Ms O is also another one that comes to mind... To be a top pro these days most of them need mega drugs and hard work, they are not all as genetically gifted as they seem! And has your friend seen any of the pros off season?? They are certainly not pure mesomorphs then, they are more like endomorphs with muscle!! Some of them are just plain fat!!

BWWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Unless you have some sort of skeletal problem like overly wide hips or impossible shoulders, that just aint true.
Bob Paris, Capriese Murrray were "skinny kids"
Bob Reis, Mike Ergas, King Kamali were class fatties in high school.
Art Atwood is badly swaybacked.
Its all about knowing your body and building on it's strengths while minimizing the flaws.
Most of all it's having what the judges want and right now it's conditioning and proportion.

I thank everyone for the feedback. I really feel better now. All I can think of right now is that I'll prove to myself and to my friend that I can be a contender and a good bodybuilder. Steph

I think that for some body types it is just easier to build muscle or fill your frame. That doesn't mean that a different body type couldn't match them, but it may take longer/more work/more eating. As for you specifically... You shouldn't have too much trouble. In my opinion, the bit of fat you have (which is probably less than you think) will probably help you initially building muscle. I think a 2-3 year time frame is realistic but it's hard to tell. I took the liberty of doing a simulation of how you will look in 3 years

i wouldn't call you an endomorph strictly speaking-you could do with a bit more muscle on your upper body(back and shoulders) but you're certainly not a lost cause like your friend suggests! Train hard and eat well

Anyway, I know that I have a lot to work, but even though my "friend" told me that I wouldn't make it anyhow, because it's too damn hard.

Fire away guys. Don't hold back. I can take it. ;D ;D I agree with Rubicon Your skeletal proportions are good, you look to have decent sized joints, not overly big, and if your deltoid mass is any indication, you should get some quality muscle on you fairly quick. The main thing is watching your diet so that fat melts away. Just dont get silly and try to do any fad diets. Talk with Kerrie on here about a sensible weight loss, muscle buiding food plan. Brock
