Hi Beck! Diet's going ok. Mostly good days, some tough ones still! Trophy girl and tanning too! Your an excellent choice for both! I think whenever I decide to retire from competing, I'll offer my services back stage to assist the figure and fitness competitors. It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it! I think you'd make a marvellous tanning 'slapper' Frank! I love giving those boys a good 'slap' Show is good so far-lightweight mens class is very competitive-all 5 top ranked in NZ so will be close several athletes will be going to melbourne for the Australasians next weekend and they are looking pretty sharp...

Hoops! Sucks Man! Feel over trained, over dieted, frustrated. It's a bit*h! Feel like I'm back to day one. Feels like progress just ain't happening anymore. And I ain't even been on stage yet this year! and at this rate.....I won't be!!!

Somethings not right BW - 164 lbs. (up from 158 2 weeks ago) BF - 15.2 % (up from 14.6 2 weeks ago) I felt it the last few days. Somthing just isn't feeling right. Can't nail it down. Might have to re group.

I know its not what you want to see but those body fat tests aren't all that accurate anyway and as far as the increased body weight is concerned maybe you've gained lean mass! I really don't see how you could've gained body fat on the diet you've been posting, you've really been training and dieting hard!

Thanks Bro! You're a ray of hope in my otherwise gloomy day!
Back to the drawing board on diet and work out. Will continue what I'm doing diet wise, until a figure out what I need to adjust. Will cut back just a bit on WO. I think I'm overtraining and causing burn out and a plateau. Did some insane deads last night. Felt pretty good.
Am Cardio at 3:30 30 minutes of Program # 2 Program # 2 = 5 min walk 30 sec lunges 2 min jog repeat fro 10 minutes, then jog last 10 minutes.
Tonights wifes last WO before her Bench Comp this Sunday. It's a small local show, just to get her feet wet to comps. Her first full meet will be on June 2nd.

Well.....it's all getting to me. Was pretty much told I'm cheating on my diet. Feel like I'm at a total stand still, and just giving it all up. Don't even feel like training...like I lost all my motivation. Might as well....... not sure which way to turn with this now! Need to "Re-light" the fire....... but how? Don't want to crash and burn Is this the end of my journal (journey?)

Who told you you were cheating on your diet? I know for a fact you're not,you are finding it hard but you are sticking to it... just remember these diets do not work for everyone Frank-there are alot of guys on here that it does work for but I know alot of people here in NZ and Aus that have tried these diets and they've screwed their metabolisms-low fat/low carb does not work for 100% of bb'ers same as high carb doesn't either.. Don't give up buddy,I'll help you get through this!!

I DID go to the gym tonight and did a leg WO. Instinctive training. Good pump.
Still not sure what to do next.....but I AM still here...and that's a start.

The Ketogenic Diet works on paper, is a fascinating study and has provided volumes of material for a popular book, but applying it is like building a prison and calling it home. I'm all for discipline and hard work and a menu high in protein and balanced with medium GOOD fat and complex carbs (living, as in fruit and vegetables). Leave the calculator, gram counter and comparison charts in the closet. I think real and wholesome muscle building is bigger than that... like barbells and dumbbells and lifting with passion. We get small inside looking for gains on the outside. They come in time if we are consistent in attitude, work, eating and resting... and playing.

That makes sense Frank-I have tried all sorts of diets and have yet to find one that suits my mind and physiology but I'm not giving up on it. Its my opinion that many 'bodies' never respond to the same diet twice especially if they are taking prescription drugs or have underlying medical conditions because the physiology is constant fighting to keep 'homeostasis' with whatever is happening in the body. First we have to stabilise the chemicals and hormones and that is a challenge in itself.

You have 6 weeks to go till your contest which means you need an extreme diet to get you there. If you had 16 weeks to go then you could have started with carb cycling. I don't run the CKD diet for 16 weeks straight. One thing I noticed about your dieting is that you were usually in the high 150s near the end of the week. Come Monday your weight was usually back up to the mid 160s. What am I supposed to think? Your bodyfat also increased .6% while you were dieting. This is impossible if you are expending more calories then you are burning. You didn't follow what I said the first time so why should I think that you are this time but I gave you the benefit of the doubt anyway and said to get your thyroid checked. You said you were eating hidden carbs before. There are no hidden carbs in diet food if you read the labels and especially not in rice cakes as you claimed. This diet is also not low carb, low fat. Franks fat intake was moderate to high and yes this diet does work on everyone. He had a periodic carb up day. This is NOT a typical ketogenic diet as it seems you told your friend Frank. I have also never had one person that this diet didn't work on and I have helped many people with many different body types. The diet is just tailored to suit their type. Bottom line of dieting is if calories in are less than calories out, the result is fat loss as long as the balance of macro nutrients is correct, not a .6% gain in bodyfat and 8 pounds. Make sure people know the whole story before you get on here and look for sympathy. Eric

What your saying makes a lot of sense to Beck, especially about homeostasis.
My MD has me on therapy for low test levels. I'm also on Toperol for High Blood Pressure which probably playing a big part in this too since it is a beta blocker.

this diet does NOT work on everyone Eric-no diet does - the modified CKD my trainer tried on me screwed my metabolism,serotonin levels and hormones so badly and I can count at least 10 people I know of that have had similar reactions even on the 6 modified week version,despite being adjusted for bodytype. My trainer admitted to me he got it wrong with me and one other of his clients but also said even though he is a 6x Mr NZ and has 20 years exp training bodybuilders,he is not God and does not claim to get it right every time. I personally hate this type of diet but I recognise there is a place for it even in the short term. We are all taking this far too personally-you,me and Tim have all tried to help Frank and the fact that he is not dropping the fat means there clearly is something wrong-we need to take a step back and let the doctors determine if there is something wrong with his metabolism or thyroid.
