Believe it or not, I trained with a young guy (Cory) when he was in high school. He was training for the state high school power lifting meet at the time and used straps the whole year for deadlifting. Anyway, he didn't have any problem pulling a pr at the meet and winning his class!

I agree with Joel, I use them all the time, and can still pull a 500 dead raw.

Bent bars drive me crazy! I always have to check the bar before I start an exercise. Some of our bars are bent pretty badly.
